Congressman Neil Abercrombie will be hosting his last Dinner 2.0 before the General Election. Some of tonight’s dinner guests include Abercrombie’s Twitter followers: Laurie Cicotello, Jonathan Wong, Nadine Kam, Gail Shiraishi, Paul Marietti, Lianne and Ian Kitajima, and of course myself, NEENZ.

The Congressman has recognized and embraced the innovation of social media as a powerful tool to communicate openly and effectively with his constituents. The hub of Neil 2.0 is at his HQ 2.0, have you joined?

This past weekend, Congressman Neil Abercrombie shared with his more than 70 audience members at Podcamp Hawai’i his use of social and new media tools. The very upfront Abercrombie didn’t pretend to be savvy in the ways of Web 2.0, but explained that he understands that communication is key and embraces the movement of communicating via the web.

Congressman Abercrombie will be hosting a fundraiser tonight at 5:30 p.m. at the Japanese Cultural Center. Keeping in step with Neil2.0, we will be live streaming the event at his website.

Hawai’i Geek Week kicked off this past weekend with the Hawai’i Macintosh and Apple Users Society’s (HMAUS) annual Mactoberfest. Events are scheduled daily throughout the week. Please join Congressman Neil Abercrombie at Podcamp Hawai’i on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 2:15 p.m. at the Hawai’i Convention Center where he will talk about his use of social and new media tools.

Earlier this week, Congressman Neil Abercrombie voted against the $700 billion bailout as did the majority of Congress. Today, the House voted in favor of an amended version of the bill. Congressman Abercrombie said the new bill, “offers improvements and protections beyond the original.” More thoughts from the Congressman here.
